"Being the George and Dragon's nearest neighbours is a pleasant experience for John and myself. Retiring to Hudswell Village in 2009 after living on a farm with no neighbours in any direction for half a mile, we thought that occasionally the noise of a pub might become disturbing - but No - whatever interesting occurance is happening; it always is, or sounds, joyful! From village gatherings, meeting of cylists,Morris dancers; all these have been enriching to us, and I imagine many of the villagers. To sit on the Terrace on a summer's day looking out over Swaledale is a therapy everyone should experience. To do it with or without friends is a joy - try it! Jackie, and her mum Margaret, have proved to be ideal Hosts of the pub. Both are very laid back ladies who have put loads of energy into ensuring lots of diverse and interesting activities occur at The George and Dragon.
